LD Products Hawaiian Vacation Sweepstakes and $100 Remanufactured Ink Giveaway Event [Closed]

86f05 LD Products LD Products Hawaiian Vacation Sweepstakes and $100 Remanufactured Ink Giveaway Event [Closed] LD Products was founded in 1999. Since that time, they have grown to become one of the largest online retailers of printer supplies in the US. Since its inception, LD Products have made customer satisfaction their number one goal; their courteous customer service representatives are knowledgeable about their products and always ready to assist. They have been awarded Bizrate’s Platinum Circle of Excellence for Customer Service for the past six years, and are also a Yahoo 5 Star certified merchant.

LD Products’ purchasing department works hard to ensure that they carry the latest printing supply products–all stocked in their 110,000 square-foot warehouse located in Long Beach, California. They rigorously screen their manufacturers to make sure that their products maintain the highest levels of quality and durability.

We teamed up with The Stuff of Success to help give away $100 worth of LD Products remanufactured printer ink. If you’re running low on printer ink, you will definitely want to enter this giveaway!

But first, The Stuff of Success received ink from LD Products to try out for herself. Here is what she had to say about her experience with the ink:

I was thrilled to be contacted by LD Products to write a review for them. Who doesn’t have an interest in printer ink nowadays? I have a laser printer and an inkjet printer–for this experiment I worked with the laser printer, which is a Brother HL-2270DW.

So let’s start with a price comparison. Since [my printer] is laser it needs a drum cartridge. The drum cartridge at a “leading retailer” is $109.99 with a toner cartridge cost of $68.49 for a total of $178.48. But by purchasing (although I did receive it for free in exchange for this honest review) through LD Products it would have cost a total of $38.99 for the drum and $25.99 for the toner, for a total of $64.98. That is quite a savings, and I can think of many things I could be using those extra funds for–a 64% savings!

Their remanufactured ink produced results just as clear, precise, and defined as the brand name cartridge I had been using. I did not have to compromise anything in quality, and although I have not been using it long enough to determine, I cannot imagine I would suffer at all in quantity, either.

Although I did not receive ink for my Epson Inkjets I do want to run a comparison for the inkjet ink for you to see it in print also. The Epson Workforce 545 has multiple cartridges in it. To replace all of them through a “leading retailer” the total cost for three black cartridges and two of each color high yield (3 colors) would be $161.91, but through LD Products it would cost just $56.97–a 65% savings!

So if you are spending your hard-earned cash on ink, fret no more. You can save a considerable amount with LD Products.

American Girl Bitty Twins Giveaway Event [Closed]

0c3ad American Girl Bitty Twins Giveaway Event American Girl Bitty Twins Giveaway Event [Closed] I am a huge fan of American Girl. When I was about eight years old, my grandmother gave me an American Girl doll and I was instantly in adoration.

I had Felicity Merriman, a doll with a story from the American Girl Historical Character line. Felicity was a spunky colonial girl growing up in Williamsburg, Virginia in 1774 while America was on the brink of the Revolutionary War. At this time, American Girl wasn’t nearly the empire it is today. They had put out the Historical Character line and at first I just had the doll, but in no time at all, I had also acquired books, accessories, and even a play with actual scripts that you could act out with your friends.

Since my childhood, American Girl has expanded so much, and frankly, my inner child is a little jealous. American Girl has incredible lines of dolls, clothing (for both dolls and little girls), doll furniture, accessories, books, and even an American Girl magazine.

Among the products they have now (and didn’t have when I was a kid), are Bitty Twins, and thanks to Mom to Bed by 8 and Iowa Mom, we are helping give away Bitty Twins dolls and book set.

The on-the-go Bitty Twins offer so many ways to mix and match! Choose skin tone, hair color, and gender to create your favorite pair. Bitty Twins come with full outfits, hair for styling, and a special book. You can also add to the fun with accessories specially made for Bitty Twins and Dress Like Your Doll clothing. Bitty Twins 15-inch dolls are for ages 3 and up.

One lucky winner will win an American Girl Bitty Twins and Book Set. The winner will be able to select boy/girl, two girls, or two boy dolls, as well as choose their preferred skin tone and hair color.

This giveaway will end on May 13th at 11:59pm, open to US and Canada, ages 18+. To enter use the Rafflecopter form below.

The Day a Truck Crashed into My House

3280f truck in my house The Day a Truck Crashed into My House

This past Saturday was supposed to be awesome. My aunt and grandmother had come up to my house for a visit in the early afternoon, and because they have been hard at work cleaning out my grandmother’s attic, they brought me some goodies, including a turquoise toybox that sat in my bedroom when I was very young. It has a rip in the top and should probably be recovered, but it has a lot of special meaning to me.

After my family left, I settled in to tackle a gigantic workload. I had a few posts I wanted to finish up and post here, and I had a lot of fresh ideas for posts that I wanted to start. My creative juices were flowing and I was motivated. As a blogger who focuses on this website full-time, “blogger fatigue” is a feeling that I know well. Because of that, I get excited when I sit down with every intention of going above and beyond my normal day-to-day tasks and getting creative with what I do here. But I never did end up getting everything that I had set out to do done… because a truck crashed into my house.

On Saturday at about 6pm, a large cargo truck was driving down the street I live on, going well above the speed limit. The truck rear-ended a smaller truck, sending it speeding 100 yards down the street–through a wooden fence, down the side of a small hill on the side of my house, completely uprooting a tree, and crashing directly into the side of my house under the front porch.

I was sitting at the kitchen table in the midst of blog posts and a list of things I wanted to get done when I heard what was either the smaller truck being rear-ended or the weight of the truck being forced over the curb. I looked out the kitchen window to see the truck careening through everything in its path and into my house. My fiance was asleep at the time and woke up in a state of complete and utter panic. When the truck collided with our house, everything shook; shelves fell over, things fell out of medicine cabinets and cupboards, furniture moved, everything was chaos. When he was woken up by all of the commotion, his first thought was that something truly horrible had happened, and because I began screaming for him as soon as the truck hit, he thought I was hurt. He has been having nightmares ever since.

3280f truck in my house closeup The Day a Truck Crashed into My House

I wasn’t hurt, thankfully. Because I have had anxiety for many years as it is, I did have a panic attack when I looked outside and saw the truck embedded in the side of our house, but I am physically fine. The man who was driving the truck that crashed into our house was breathing when the ambulance arrived, but he was unresponsive and unable to move. He was taken to the hospital and, last we heard, is in critical condition.

The bigger truck that rear-ended the truck that wound up in the side of our house ended up inside of our neighbor’s house, taking out their entire living room. The lady who lives there just so happened to be visiting family out of state at the time of the crash, which is so fortunate because she could have been killed had she been sitting in her living room when the truck crashed into it. The man who was driving the bigger truck has already been found at fault for the entire chaotic and horrible mess.

3280f trucks in houses The Day a Truck Crashed into My House

And it has been horrible.

While we were very lucky to have less damage to our house than our neighbor, we do have a lot of damage. The truck completely took out our electrical box and left a huge hole in the side of our house. We had our power shut off at house- and pole-level before the truck was even removed, and we have been staying with my fiance’s parent’s since Saturday night. We have had the insurance claims adjuster, contractors, and an electrician out already and every time we talk to one of these people, we just get more less-than ideal news about when we can even inhabit our house again.

61cce hole in my house The Day a Truck Crashed into My House

The truck ended up hitting our outer wall on our lowest level that is part of the area of the house where our oil drums are located. On just the inside of that area of the house is where our furnace and hot water heater is located. The bright side as far as when we can resume living in our house is that we have already had an electrician put up a temporary electrical box. Once it is inspected by the borough and the power company can come out and hook us up again at pole-level, we will have power in the house. Unfortunately, once the contractors and masons begin their work, in order to access the affected area of the house that needs to be repaired, they have to move our furnace and hot water heater and re-route a lot of our pipes. What that means for us is that while we may have temporary power, we may not have running water. We still don’t know how long it will be before any of that work begins, due to it almost being summer and a very busy time for masons, but I’m not looking forward to being displaced again for we don’t even know how long.

Honestly, this entire incident has left me exhausted and beyond frustrated. However, I am trying to remain as positive as possible. After all, our house received less damage than our neighbor’s. We still have a living room. We were not hurt, and we have family who love us and who have opened their home to us. It could have been worse. It can always be worse. Homeowner’s insurance rocks, and in time, the home I fell in love with at first sight will be repaired. Someday this whole series of events will feel so far away and I am really looking forward to when that happens.

Needless to say, I have been a little behind on getting posts up and answering emails, but I’d say that I have a really great excuse, don’t you think?

How the Elderly Can Stay Mobile Despite the Crippling Effects of Arthritis

14992 mobility scooter How the Elderly Can Stay Mobile Despite the Crippling Effects of Arthritis

Poet Emily Dickinson once wrote, “Old age comes on suddenly, and not gradually as is thought.” That was certainly true for my neighbor. It seemed that one day I saw him driving along in his classic sports car, and the next he was riding a mobility scooter.

It turned out that my neighbor had taken a nasty spill in the tub which aggravated his arthritis. According to the National Council on Aging, older adults are treated for falls in emergency rooms at a rate of about once every 15 seconds.

I was really surprised to hear about my neighbor having arthritis. He is only in his early ’50s and definitely not what I picture when I think of someone who is “elderly.” He has also always been very active–jogging, hiking, or kayaking with his adult children, and I even see him playing catch with his grandchildren on the weekends. Could he really have arthritis?

    Misconceptions About Arthritis

It turned out that not only could my neighbor have arthritis, he was most certainly diagnosed with it. It turns out that everything I thought I knew about arthritis was based on myths and old wives’ tales. Some research on the internet helped me learn more about this condition, though.

There are so many misconceptions about arthritis. You do not have to be headed for the nursing home to experience pain, swollen joints, fatigue, stiffness, or any of the other symptoms. Here are some myths about this mobility-impairing condition:

MYTH: Arthritis is a disease limited to the elderly.
FACT: The truth is that anyone is at risk for developing arthritis; even children.

MYTH: Arthritis is brought on by living in a cold, wet climate.
FACT: Regardless of where you live in the world, you could find yourself stricken with arthritis.

MYTH: Arthritis has a cure for those with private insurance.
FACT: Sadly there is no cure for arthritis that is known at this time.

MYTH: Arthritis is caused by making poor choices about one’s diet.
FACT: Diet had very little to do with having arthritis, although getting enough Omega 3 fatty acids can help stall the onset of arthritis.

MYTH: Arthritis only causes minor aches and pains.
FACT: Arthritis can cause debilitating pain that impairs a person’s ability to move, even from one room to another.

The Elderly and Mobility Within the Home

Once you educate yourself about what is misconception and what is fact regarding arthritis, you can then open your mind to what it will take to best manage the disease. With more than 100 different types of arthritis, it is best to get a diagnosis from a doctor if you suspect you or a loved one may have it.

Some people suffer from arthritis that is severe enough to leave them crippled and bedridden. Who wants to lie about in bed everyday? Relying on someone else to do the simplest tasks for you is demeaning and makes you feel like a burden. Nobody should be made to feel like that, but not too long ago that was nearly the only choice available. However, advancements in scooter technology has turned all of that around, offering most immobile people a chance at new freedoms.

If your arthritis is severe enough that your doctor agrees that it inhibits your ability to move around and tackle daily life tasks on your own, he may prescribe a written order for a mobility chair. However, you can expect to undergo testing to make sure you are healthy enough to operate the machine.

It is not necessary to take out a second mortgage to purchase a top of the line scooter. Even cheap mobility scooters offer the same primary benefits and sites like http://mobility-scooter-reviews.com/blog/ are filled with valuable information about different types of scooters and which may be the best fit for your personal needs.

Some of the things mobility scooters can help you do day-to-day are:

    • Collect mail or the morning newspaper
    • Walk the dog around the block
    • Prepare lunch or get a glass of water from the kitchen
    • Go from any other part of the house to the bathroom

Outside of the home, the freedoms a mobility scooter provide are nearly endless. Now the people who were once rendered immobile due to their arthritis can go to the grocery store, pharmacy, out to the movies, and even on vacation with their families.

Mobility scooters are here to stay, and they are only getting more advanced as new technology rolls out. The various models available today allow the elderly, disabled, and anyone else who may need them select something that best fits their personal needs in regard to where they live and what their lifestyle entails.

Make Your Next Move a Truly Stress-Free, Exciting Experience — Hire Movers

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Amazon Relocation. Incentive was provided to me, and opinions are my own.

b3ace moving boxes Make Your Next Move a Truly Stress Free, Exciting Experience — Hire Movers

Nearly every moving experience I have ever endured has been nothing short of terrible. The circumstances that arose that forced me to pack up everything I owned and haul it to a new place of residence have always made for moving experiences that left me proclaiming, as loudly as I could, “never again!”

A little over five years ago, we moved from one apartment to another about 40 minutes away–in the middle of an ice and snowstorm in February. The circumstances surrounding our move was that the roof in our old apartment had caved in after a particularly harsh snowstorm and our slumlord of a landlord actually expected us to live in an apartment with a partially exposed and caved-in roof for at least a month. So we moved as fast as we could. A friend of ours was living in an apartment building where there was a vacancy, and because we were friends with him and he had been a great tenant, the landlord let us move in before even meeting us. We got lucky. We ended up staying there for four years.

The last time we made a move was when we moved from that apartment into our own home. Our lease happened to be up and we also happened to have found the house we intended to purchase. What was perfect timing on one hand was terrible timing on another. We moved in February, in the snow, again.

That move was easily the hardest move of the five I have made throughout my adult life. It resulted in me crying in the middle of our brand new kitchen, sitting at our just-put-together kitchen table, unable to bear even the thought of lifting another box after two and a half days of non-stop moving. But that last move, while the hardest, was also the most comforting, because I knew that it would at least be a while before I would have to move again, if ever. This was a house that was ours, after all. And if I ever do have to move again, I have one magical word that will without a doubt enter the equation: movers.

Moving is stressful and exhausting. It can easily bring out the worst in people, and quickly. Even when I think back to that last day of moving into our home, I do not recognize the memory of that woman crying out her frustrations and exhaustion, dreaming of nothing but a hot shower and a warm bed. That person was not me; that was me on moving.

With how much moving takes out of you, physically as well as mentally, if you have the extra money to spare, there is no reason not to hire movers. Professional movers can practically be miracle workers; taking away the stress, frustration, and exhaustion of moving and allowing you to feel what you should be feeling while approaching a life in a shiny, new place–excitement and joy.

Of course, like with any other service, all professional moving companies are not created equal. It’s important to do your research and to ensure that the moving company you hire to move your precious belongings from one location to another will treat your property the same way you would–with the greatest of care and respect.

When researching moving companies, it is imperative to deeply investigate each and every company you might consider hiring. Pay special attention to the following areas of their business:

    • The licenses and insurance held by the drivers
    • The company’s record with the Better Business Bureau
    • If the company is a member of any accredited associations
    • Where their primary place of business is located
    • Read online reviews left by previous customers

Amazon Relocation, for instance, is one of the moving companies in New York that offers immediate on-call service for relocation to New York State, Chicago, Boston, or Florida. They specialize in cross-coast and cross-country moves and are quick to offer up their validity and accreditation right on the front page of their website, including the fact that they are longtime members of the American Moving and Storage Association. Being a member of an association with leverage behind it shows a company’s validity, and is a very important aspect of researching any moving company. You want to see their participation in organized associations that are trusted and have proven themselves to do great work and provide a sound service.

The moving market is a competitive one, just like most other services out there. One word of advice: don’t always trust the lowest price or the most eager company. Be sure to thoroughly research any business and their personnel before allowing them access to your irreplaceable possessions.

While it is the responsibility of a moving company to make the process of picking up your packed boxes (or even doing the packing for you, if the company you choose offers it) and moving them to your new place of residence unscathed, it is your responsibility to make sure you are sure that they will follow through with their end of the deal, and the best way to research a company is to look at the way they have previously done business.

Good luck on your next move, and be sure to make it as stress-free as possible.

4f401 Conscious Box 3 Month Subscription to Conscious Box Giveaway [Closed]

Last week I told you all about how you can try Conscious Box, the monthly subscription service dedicated to introducing subscribers to greener, more sustainable, better for you, and better for the earth products, for free–only paying shipping for your first box. This week, I have something even better; a giveaway in which one lucky Woman Tribune reader will win a 3-month subscription to the service.

Conscious Box gives individuals and families that little extra push we could all use from time to time to live greener, healthier lives in a fun and exciting way. Each month Conscious Box sends out a variety of unique pure and natural products, from organic food to vegan beauty products, for you to discover, try out, and put to use in your home. Each product that appears in a Conscious Box is organic, fair trade, pure and natural, and from companies working toward the most ethical goals for the planet.

In addition to the products contained in each box, Conscious Box also offers content on daily living tips, exciting monthly themes, and creative tips on how to use the products you receive in your box. Conscious Box subscribers also have the opportunity to earn points for writing reviews of products they receive that can be used toward future purchases.
